Tools, diagnostics & software have enabled Quality Control Inspectors and similar non-HVAC professionals to have the ability to confirm if a system is operating as designed and at the manufacturer's energy rating. This provides 3rd party oversight and confidence that the system will provide comfort, be energy efficient, and reduce call backs. It was not that long ago that a blower door test was complicated, referencing several charts to calculate pressures then flow and CFM. Today, turn on the fan and manometer/app and voila, results in seconds. Using smart tools and intelligent apps allows the user to document heat pumps and AC systems at optimum performance. Using non-invasive measurements, no refrigerant pressure gauges, we can confirm these conditions dynamically: total external static pressure, refrigerant temperature (back calculating pressures), airflow, watts/CFM, SEER(2) and EER(2), Temperature Split, Total Btu/h including Sensible and Latent loads, superheat & subcooling just to name a few. Similar to a blower door, install the devices, turn on the app, and get results - voila.
NO EPA 608 certification required, if you’re EPA 608 certified then add the refrigerant probes if needed.
Come see how easy it is to evaluate a Heat Pump or AC system
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Non-Invasive measurements can determine if the system is operating correctly and what probes are required
QCI and other professionals can determine if a system is operating correctly and what system inputs are required
Name 3 measurements necessary to confirm the system is operating correctly
