Operations & Maintenance (O&M) trainings enhance multifamily energy efficiency programs and maximize the impact of a suite of other offerings. This session will focus on how utilities can integrate Operations & Maintenance training—such as Building Operator Certification (BOC) and less formal O&M focused webinars and activities delivered to strategic energy management (SEM) participants —to enhance building performance, reduce energy use, improve energy management, and increase staff competency in multifamily settings. Participants will explore two examples of how O&M trainings have been successfully delivered as part of utility programs in multifamily buildings. The session will provide key insights to help avoid common challenges in the delivery of skill development trainings and in the Measurement and Verification (M&V) of program outcomes. By examining real-world success stories, participants will discover how O&M training can lead to tangible results, including improved energy efficiency, building operations, and facility staff engagement.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Identify at least two examples of facility staff trainings delivered as part of utility programmatic offerings in multifamily buildings
Avoid pitfalls with both delivery tactics and M&V from lessons learned in previous programs
Identify key success stories and results from O&M training examples
