Nationally states and municipalities aim to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and while zero-carbon new construction projects can be impactful most of the national housing stock is made up of existing properties with fossil fuel-powered space and water heating. Increasingly all-electric technologies and the solutions that make electrification of existing properties possible are becoming more prevalent, but the process of auditing a home with the goal of incorporating these technologies can still be a very daunting endeavor. This session provides an overview of the electrification audit process from evaluating a building's energy usage and infrastructure to load reduction, determining the potential for electrification measures and the integration of renewable energy sources.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Understand the process of performing an electrification audit
Identify barriers such as existing electrical infrastructure and develop solutions
Determine if electrification is feasible in a cost-efficient manner using available and emerging technologies
