Workforce Development Programs Manager Building Performance Association Marion, Virginia
Apprenticeship is a hot topic in the energy efficiency industry. Instead of broad discussions, this session dives into the specific knowledge and tools needed to create a successful Registered Apprenticeship Program. You’ll hear from three key stakeholders: a state official who approves apprenticeship paperwork, an industry intermediary/group sponsor who manages program implementation, and an RTI provider who trains participants in building science and energy auditing.
The session will also explore alternative training options, such as pre-apprenticeship programs, which provide valuable pathways for program implementers facing regulatory challenges. We’ll discuss the benefits of using an industry intermediary or group sponsor and outline the steps to establish a Registered Apprenticeship.
Additionally, we’ll highlight how WIOA funding, stipend grants, and college credit can enhance the value of both pre-apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear understanding of the apprenticeship framework and actionable next steps to develop and implement your own program. Whether you're an employer, educational institution, or workforce development professional, this session provides the guidance needed to build a robust and compliant apprenticeship program.
