Everyone working in the Weatherization Assistance Program is an energy educator. Whether performing outreach, scheduling jobs, performing energy audits, installing measures or completing quality assurance site inspections, we are all energy educators at some level. During this session, we will explore the barriers to effective energy education and how we can overcome these barriers. By gaining a better understanding of how adults learn and change behaviors, we can improve our skills when delivering energy education with our customers. As a result, our customers will have the confidence to change that filter or adjust the set-point on a thermostat, thus increasing energy efficiency and hopefully comfort.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Discuss barriers to effective energy education
Identify methods to improve how we deliver energy education
Review key principles for how adults learn and change behavior
