Building America Retrofit Teams: De-risking Scalable Solutions

Building America’s Retrofit Solutions teams have worked closely with community stakeholders to understand the goals and challenges of improving their existing housing stock and to develop and validate scalable retrofit solutions. A panel of five Building America teams will share their projects’ goals and findings. These teams are working all over the country to tackle such hard-to-solve challenges as optimizing envelope measures to pair with heat pump upgrades in the Midwest, ventilation strategies in multifamily buildings, making efficiency upgrades to existing manufactured homes in Virginia, reducing applied losses in heat pumps in cold climates, and retrofitting non-urban, low-rise multifamily buildings in the Northwest. These projects are all focused on de-risking and validating retrofit solutions and developing actionable guidance and best practices to implement these retrofits throughout the housing stock. This session will include an interactive Q&A with the presenters to discuss specific technical challenges and solutions.
