Principle The Energy Doctor North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania
This session begins with an overview of the air quality problems (PM 2.5) faced in many of our homes - especially those in cities, or near industries and highways - and strategies to mitigate the particles In the air using our existing equipment to filter the air 24/7. This presentation will explain some of the hazards to your equipment of this 24/7 strategy, and how to modify a duct system and filter, and even the blower motor, to allow a system to run full time filtering the air for a cleaner, healthier indoor environment. Case studies will be presented of systems that have been implemented as a part of the ROCIS initiative (Reducing Outdoor Contaminants in Indoor Spaces) and lessons learned in the process of modifying these systems, as well as the relative success of different filtration strategies.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Learn the differences in effectiveness and static pressure drop for different MERV ratings, and Learn the differences and in pressure drop and longevity between 1" and 4" or wider filters
See the testing strategies employed to determine if a system is a good candidate for 24/ 7 filtration
See the strategies employed in modifying a furnace or heat pump system to allow for safe and effective 24/7 filtration
