Alex Boetzel has over 35 years of experience in sustainable construction, specializing in high-performance building standards, passive building design, and energy retrofits. He regularly speaks at conferences and teaches courses on these topics, sharing his expertise in integrating advanced building science into practical applications that meet rigorous energy and sustainability standards.

He has led various projects focused on decarbonization, resilience, and energy efficiency, particularly in residential projects. His work includes managing Living Building Challenge, LEED, and Passive House-certified projects, developing innovative retrofit strategies, and creating industry-leading processes that streamline high-performance building design and delivery.

Throughout his career, Alex has played a key role in developing and implementing energy-efficient building policies. His leadership extends to technical advisory roles, where he has collaborated with state and local governments on energy codes, building performance standards, and policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He has also trained professionals globally in passive building strategy.
