Energy Program Technical Coordinator
Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities
Plymouth, Massachusetts
Thomas McIvor started his weatherization career air sealing attics and loading hoppers on a weatherization crew. Within months he was running a weatherization truck and knew he had found his career path. After 5 years on a truck he stepped into a field manager role. He then took a job as general manager with a smaller company, running the day to day operations. He then ventured out onto his own and started a small weatherization company. His kids were getting older and he needed to find more of a work-life balance instead of working 70-80 hours a week as a small business owner, and that is when he found an EA/QCI position at a local agency. After several years he moved to the state level as a technical field monitor, and has recently moved into the Energy Programs Technical Coordinator position. He considers himself a building science nerd with hands on experience. He currently sits on NREL and BPI committees as a SME, is a BPI proctor mentor, and regularly runs WAweb and Energy Auditor trainings. During the cold months he can be found curling and in the warmer months tending to his garden with his three children.
