Director of Research at the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) since 2011 where he has led the public health research on childhood lead poisoning, asthma, aging in place, non-energy benefits, and housing-related health outcomes. He is co-investigator on a HUD-funded (2021-2023) Healthy Homes Technical Study “Preventing Injuries to Children Through Home Safety Audits and Modifications” with the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. The implementation study is designed to evaluate the use of Child Housing Assessment for a Safe Environment (CHASE) in preventing child home injury. As GHHI’s Director of Research he oversees research into child injury prevention - in partnership with Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Policy and Research he assisted with the development of the protocols, quality assurance over data collection and home visiting services to address known injury hazards through a healthy housing assessment, home modification, and follow up education. As Co-Investigator he will lead the program cost analysis to analyze the costs of the injury prevention measures from the CHASE Implementation Study and use these findings to determine the economic feasibility of integrating these prevention measures into existing home visiting child health and welfare programs.
