Energy Auditor
Community Energy Project
Portland, Oregon
Abasi Umoh (they, them) is an In-Homes Auditor at Community Energy Project (CEP) since 2023. They are a certified Home Energy Scorer (HES) and conduct home energy assessments using a house as a system approach to develop and implement deep energy home retrofit and weatherization projects for low income and marginalized Oregonians.
After moving to Portland in 2021, they left their job of nearly a decade working in grocery to pursue work in the trades. They became an apprentice carpenter, but after several internships and as many months, they realized their real passion is in equitable home performance. Abasi believes home performance has a major role to play in fighting climate change and improving peoples’ quality of life. Abasi now serves on the board of the Home Performance Guild of Oregon.
When they’re not working, Abasi enjoys reading, adventuring through Portland’s robust coffee scene, and planning future outfits for the next nearby renaissance fair.
