Judy Rachel began her building science technical consulting firm in 2008. She currently specializes in load calculations, HVAC system design, contractor training, consulting on healthy home building practices and performance testing of homes and their mechanical systems. She writes and teaches building science curricula for community colleges, workforce training programs and technical training providers. She provides hands-on trainings including performance testing of HVAC systems and building enclosure testing. For 10 years Judy was the main organizer of the Forum on Dry Climate Home Performance. She was the contractor field mentor for Southern California's Energy Upgrade California program at which time she held 6 BPI certifications. She is a former HERS rater. In 2011 through 2012 she was part of a team that led trainees through completing Deep Energy Retrofits of single family residences.
