Senior Director of Building Science
Association for Energy Affordability
NYC, New York
Andy Padian is the Sr. Director of Building Science at the Association for Energy Affordability, where he works in energy audits, specifications, trainings, and office morale. For 40+ years, he has managed projects within the building community, from vast energy auditing programs to changing the way financial institutions provide loans, encouraging sustainability and cash flow. He is well versed in multifamily buildings, building science, sustainability, resilience, energy/appliance efficiency, and code compliance.
He works with contractors, code officials, owners, architects, engineers, and other professionals to reach positive outcomes and complete projects on time and within budget. He was the principle technical construction manager for NYC’ largest Superstorm Sandy subrecipient, working in the office and field to complete projects that needed to repair damage, exceed building codes, and create more resilient properties.
While creating the multifamily division at Steven Winter Associates, he developed the first national training on multifamily efficiency for managers, owners, and maintenance staff to understand the importance of retrofits that improve cash flow, comfort, efficiency, health & safety, and resilience. In all the above positions, he was responsible for training and mentoring existing staff, consultants, and other professionals to meet or exceed the desired outcome of the programs.
