Becky Schaaf is a Principal Consultant with VEIC and an affordable housing expert She currently leads VEIC’s strategy initiatives for TECH Clean California, a statewide initiative for decarbonizing residential buildings. With expertise implementing sustainability programs in the affordable housing sector, she provides strategic leadership and management to TECH’s Low-Income and Multifamily Pilots. In addition, she designs equitable building decarbonization policies and program strategies, including for sections of the State of New York’s Building Electrification Roadmap. For the ClimateWorks Foundation, she has investigated cooling-related emissions in the northern half of the United States, making policy recommendations for equitable heat pump deployment. Prior to joining VEIC in 2021, Becky was a Senior Vice President for energy and sustainability at Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF). She led its Big Reach Initiative, a collaboration among SAHF members in conserving water and energy use.
